Grow in Battisputali - Food Relief

COVID-19 has wrecked havoc on the developing country of Nepal. Resulting in the beginning of lockdown on March 24th. Marking the start of the economic shutdown, and restricting movement and income opportunities across Nepal. The virus has affected imports and exports, and reduced remittances that Nepalis rely on. Grow implemented Project Bagmati in Nepal to combat this and provide food relief packages. By working with locals to assess the situation, Grow conducted two food distribution programs in Battisputali on June 8 and June 13.

The lockdown meant Jobs vanished over night in Nepal. Whereas, a report by UNDP stated that one out of every three workers lost their jobs during lockdown. As a result, roughly three out of four people did not receive any sort of payments by the time the report was published in July.

Grow's believes in Together We Can, and to conduct the emergency food relief program, we did just that. With assistance from Ambika Thapa (wearing red) and Anish Khadka (wearing white), was able to provide 77 families and a total of 276 people with food. Full demographics can be seen below.

Project Bagmati's mission was to provide people in need with food supplies to sustain their wellbeing during the lockdown. Grow provided every individual with rice, lentils, salt, oil and soap. These food relief packages were enough to last a family of four for one month.
